| Sergey Shnurov, perhaps better known as Shnur, the frontman of Russia's most famous ska group Leningrad, dissolved his band in order to start a new music project. Despite the global economic crisis, 26 September 2009 marked the birth of his new band, Rubl. On that day the band, consisting of members of Shnur’s former ensemble Denis Mozhin (drums) and Andrey Antonenko (keyboard) held their first concert in Moscow's “B1” club. They were soon joined by two more members, guitarist Konstantin Limonov and Aleksey Kanev on the moog.
The musicians themselves say that their music can best be described as “fitness-rock”. When their drummer lost twelve pounds in four months, the members realized just what kind of music they were actually playing. As the first sport-music ensemble in the world, they began holding "trainings" in clubs throughout Russia and even abroad. This rather unusual but extremely effective way of weight loss wins over more fans by the day. The results of this unique weight loss treatment, as well as videos for Nothing New, Endure, No and Love, can be found on their website www.ru-bl.ru
On 1 February 2009, a single of the group was released on vinyl as an insert in the "Russian Pioneer" magazine. Keep the change, their first album, will be released soon.
