A romantic tale about first love, death and disappointment. An ageing musician plays the first few bars of the “Memory of Hercules Spa” melody on his bugle. Vojta, a former student and now the school director, recognizes an old acquaintance -Viktor, a travelling showman. Years ago, both had fallen in love for the same girl - sixteen-year-old Terina.
It was summer and Vojta had fallen in love for the first time. In the evenings, he used to meet Terina on a merry-go-round or in the countryside. Their encounters were brief. Vojta had to take care of his grandfather who had lost his memory after a stroke and Terina was closely watched by Viktor who had been promised the girl by her parents. One day, Terina come to say good-bye. The summer is over and they will not be seeing each other for at least another year. Vojta cannot bear the thought of parting with her for so long and he and Terina decide to run away together...
