INTRODUCTION TO KUSTENDORF - ARRI ALEXA WORKSHOP
In the morning of the first day of the fifth annual Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival, as part of the RETROSPECTIVE OF GREATNESS programme, the 2004 movie 3-Iron by the South Korean director Kim Ki-duk was played at 10:30 before the grand opening. After the screening, ARRI ALEXA, an educational workshop was held at which the assembled students and guests were presented the most complete digital film camera, ALEXA. As noted in the workshop, the ALEXA has become synonymous with simple handling and reliability, and has replaced many film cameras as the choice of many film creators to film both Hollywood hits and TV series.
At the start of the workshop, the ARRI representative Milan Krsljanin greeted all the assembled students and expressed his delight at having the opportunity to present the ALEXA camera in the name of ARRI and Visual Impact (Serbia) at Kustendorf. Showing several movie trailers that were filmed with this camera, among which were Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, Terry Gilliam’s short film Wholly Family, and Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve, Krsljanin acquainted the audience with the extents of using the ALEXA camera. A special surprise for all present was the material that was filmed at Mecavnik. To demonstrate the beauty, simple handling, and technical capabilities of the ALEXA, scenes shot in Mecavnik during the previous day’s preparations for Kustendorf by regular people, who are not cinematographers, were shown.
