Director's Biography
Maša Šarović

Maša Šarović was born in Subotica in 1993. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Faculty of Drama Arts in Belgrade at the Department of Film Directing. Her short film The City (2016) premiered in San Sebastian, before it was presented and awarded at many festivals such as Kustendorf (Special Jury Award). Her second short, Hottest Summer Days (2018), premiered in Sarajevo and was presented at other festivals such as FID Marseille, Ljubljana FEKK (Gran Prix for the best film), Winterthur, TAU Student Film Festival Tel Aviv. In 2019 she took part in The Factory project of Cannes Film Festival, where she directed a segment of the omnibus In Your Hands, and it premiered at Quinzaine des Réalisateurs. Her latest short film, 9-5, premiered at VGIK Film Festival (Special mention), and was shown at festivals such as Trieste Film Festival, Ca’ Foscari Film Festival and Bašta Fest. She participated in project development programs such as IPDF (Los Angeles) and First Films First (Serbia). At the moment Maša developing her first feature film, Embryo. She has been a selector at the Palić Film Festival since 2023.
