Synopsis

An early summer evening begins with a game, while one kid counts to three thousand, the others hide in a row of suburban gardens. During that time, a young father spends the rest of his day with someone else’s child, an old man awaits a call that will change his life and the future of a year-long friendship becomes uncertain. The game ends when mosquitoes start rising from the grass.

Director's Biography
David Gašo

Born in Osijek in 2000, in 2019 he enrolled in Film and TV Directing studies in Zagreb. While at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, he directed several film works and short films, among them the award-winning autobiographical hybrid film Laci's Great Escape and the short film Incendiary. His short film Short Cut Grass had its premiere at the 69th Short Film Festival in Oberhausen, and was later awarded a special award at the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival, then the Award for the Best Film in the Domestic shorts program of the 21st Zagreb Film Festival and the Vedran Šamanović Award at the 70th edition of the Pula Film Festival. In addition to filmmaking, he directs commercials, videos and other film forms, and leads workshops for children and young people at the Summer Film School Gunja, and at the Osijek Film RUNDA, where he is also a member of the organizational team and a selector of the film program since 2022. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Society of Croatian Film Directors.
